Day 01

Alpine Contrasts:
Samarkand — Jarteppa Border Post — Penjikent — Artuch — Chukrak Lake

• Transfer from Samarkand to the Jarteppa border post (Uzbekistan/Tajikistan) - arrival around 11:00 AM.
• Transfer to the city of Penjikent.
• Deposit of luggage unnecessary for the trek in secure storage.
• Lunch in a traditional tchaikhana (teahouse).
• After lunch, transfer by 4x4 vehicles to the Artuch tourist base (altitude 2200 m).
• Start of the trek: walk to Chukrak Lake (altitude 2400 m).
• Camp setup, dinner by the lake at 7:00 PM.
