Day 01

The Alpine Contrasts (2,400 M):
Samarkand — Jarteppa border — Penjikent — Artush — Lake Chukurak.

• Transfer from Samarkand to the Jarteppa border post (Uzbekistan/Tajikistan) - arrival around 11:00 AM. • Transfer to the city of Penjikent. • Leave any unnecessary trekking gear in storage. • Lunch in a traditional teahouse. • After lunch, transfer by 4x4 vehicles to the Artush tourist base (altitude 2200 m). • Start of the trek: hike to Lake Chukurak (altitude 2400 m). • Setting up camp, dinner by the lake at 7:00 PM.
