The Sapphire Route — Epic 15-Lake Trek in The Fann Mountains (8 Days)

S&P Travel invites you on a journey that connects the history of the Silk Road with the purest nature. Following the monumental splendour of Samarkand, eight days await you in a sanctuary of snowy peaks, in the heart of Tajikistan. Your traverse begins at the Artush base, and S&P Travel immediately plunges you into a kingdom where blue is the only law. The ascent begins at Lake Chukurak, an alpine jewel whose turquoise waters contrast with the relict juniper forest. Driven by the call of the peaks, you conquer the path leading to Lake Ziyorat (2850 m), feeling the high mountains reveal themselves with every step: an epic experience where scree slopes give way to steep vistas.

The trail then descends to the blue symphony of the Kulikalon Lakes (2800 m), one of the most spectacular lake systems in the Fann, providing an ideal camping plateau. Here, you discover spiritual treasures (Cherny, Bibidzhonat) symbolizing the sacred link between water and local communities. S&P Travel then guides you toward the vertical challenge: you progress to Lake Alauddin (2750 m), famous for its vibrant emerald and turquoise waters, before reaching the zenith at Lake Mutnoye (3540 m). This latter lake, with its troubled grey-green waters, offers a striking contrast before you contemplate the overwhelming Chimtarga Peak (5490 m), the "King of the Fann Mountains."

The adventure continues by venturing into absolute solitude. After contemplating the King of Fann, the strategic descent leads you to Turquoise Lake (Biryuzovoe), a mirage of sapphire and emerald, rewarding your effort. This is the threshold of the secret: you enter the legendary Zindon Gorge, a rock cathedral where jagged cliffs create total isolation. This remote valley reveals the most isolated gems: the Great Allo Lakes (Superior, Bolshoye, Maloye). These vast, deep blue mirrors embody the culmination of your quest for absolute tranquility, giving you the rare feeling of having conquered a land forgotten by time.

After this total immersion, the return path is a gentle melody. The solemn farewell to the secret lakes gives way to the descent that brings you back to life through the Amshut Valley. Your epic journey concludes at Vorou Village, where Tayiko-Persian hospitality from Kuhistan warmly welcomes you. The loop ends in Panjikent, the ancient Sogdian city, with a festive dinner.

This program is designed for passionate and experienced mountaineers accustomed to high-altitude excursions (ideal season: July to late September). S&P Travel has designed every day to be etched forever in your memory. Book now and start writing your own alpine legend!
